One of my favourite things to print with is leaves. I love how the veins and the texture of the leaf surface comes through so vividly in a monoprint.
It’s been a while since I did any printing. My workroom needs a good sort out and it was acting as a block to do anything at all so I upped sticks and decamped to the kitchen.
I decided to experiment with some rose leaves. They’re a little tough but interesting. I mixed colours to find a green that reminded me of mossy grass and positioned the leaves to look like a tree in a landscape. This isn’t the finished picture. I’m thinking of adding some illustration or collage but I like the simplicity of it so far.
I also tiled the image in a layout app and I think it looks great as a repeating pattern. Work in progress.
