Handmade and experimental
I created this print using a homemade gelatin printing block, herbs (coriander and basil) from my kitchen and some normal paper I had lying around. The result is really interesting. I love the way the background shows every indentation on the printing surface. The paper puckered when it was drying but I don’t mind that. This was always just a practice print that turned out to be one of my favourites so I framed it and it hangs on my studio wall. When I look at this print I feel proud that I achieved such a great result on only my first go at monoprinting. It’s also sentimental because it brings back very happy memories of working at my makeshift print station on the mezzanine in our apartment in Verona. Such a great place with so many great memories.
